Meeting Minutes



The meeting was called to order on November 6, 2011 with 12 members and guests present.

MOTION: To accept the previous minutes by Ron (KC8TXC) seconded by Edgar (KC8VLV), approved.

TREASURES REPORT: Suzanne (KB8GFY) reported that our balance is $372.50.

DISASTER REPORT: There were numerous structure fires in the area. During the Halloween weekend there were a few dumpster fires caused by arson. ARCARS were not called out in October.

NET REPORT: Edgar (KC8VLV) reported that attendance has been light lately. The nets have been held every Tuesday evening at 8pm on the ARCARS repeater at 146.800MHz. Stacy KB8RNN has expressed interest in hosting additional nets on the repeater.

SPECIAL EVENTS: None covered at this meeting

CLUB STATION: Paul (KG8OU) has the cabinet for the d-star repeater that was provided by Bob (K8WMW). He also loaned a power supply for the repeater. Paul mentioned that there was a power supply likely to be sold at an estate sale for a reasonable amount. The ARCARS truck is in for service. Repairs include; the breaks, tune up, and overall maintenance.

MOTION: To purchase the power supply if it is still available by Edgar, seconded by Suzanne. Carried.

CLUB PROJECT:

OLD BUSINESS: The next ARCARS supported Poker House event is slated for January 3rd through the 6th. This is a four evening, eight hour per session event that has the potential to fund our operations. Our next scheduled event is in December 2012.

Christmas dinner: We will be meeting at our December meeting and celebrating the holidays. Official business will be kept to a minimum. This is a pot luck affair that is being headed up by Andrew (810)531-1507 or kc8spd@arcars.org. Jerrie and Paul are bringing a ham. Suzanne is bringing pumpkin pie and cool whip. Mark is bringing a rhubarb pie. Andrew is bringing dinner rolls and something else. Ken is bringing green bean casserole. Ron is bringing scalloped potatoes, and Brian is bringing squash and sweet potatoes. Dennis is bringing cranberries.

NEW BUSINESS:

DX SPOTS/ SPECIAL EVENTS: KG8OU mentioned that Easter Island is on the air. This is a rare opportunity to log that contact. Go get em.

Paul provided disks with field day pictures to the group. Thanks Paul

ANNOUNCEMENTS and other info:

The ARCARS & International Traders Net is held every Tuesday evening at 8pm on the 146.800 K8ARC repeater. The ARCARS DStar repeater is now operational on frequency 146.690MHz.

The International Friendship Net is held every Thursday at 9pm on the 145.370-VA3SAR repeater

The Thumb / Mid Michigan Nets are held Monday through Saturday at 9:30pm on the 147.300 repeater.

HF: The Great Lakes Emergency and Traffic Net is held nightly at 8pm on 3.932 kHz
