Meeting Minutes

The December meeting was held at the Dobel residence on 12/5/04. No official ARCARS business was transacted or passed at that meeting.

The meeting was called to order with 12 members and guests present.

MOTION TO ACCEPT MINUTES: for the November meeting by Victor (WD8DWR), seconded by Gene (NA8I), accepted.

TREASURES REPORT: Suzanne was in attendance at the meeting. The last reported balance stood at $579.95.

MOTION: To accept TREASURES REPORT was not necessary.

DISASTER REPORT: There were several house fires last month. One of them was a three alarm with several departments responding. It was not necessary to call out ARCARS on these events.

NET REPORT: Edgar (KC8VLV) was not in attendance at the meeting but gave the net report via radio transmission during the meeting. He reported that we have had an average of 4 – 5 amateurs checking into the weekly net. He went on to add that activity with the Traders Net has been light, and encouraged more participation.

CLUB STATION: Gene reported that some work was completed at the repeater site. Everything looks good and is working well.

Andrew (KC8SPD) reported that the auto patch phone line had become disconnected and is working to remedy that problem.

The packet radio at the Red Cross was bumped off frequency and that station was unavailable for a short time. Now the radios are locked on frequency to avoid future similar problems.

CLUB PROJECT: There was no mention of this issue at the meeting.

NEWSLETTER: The newsletter continues to be posted to www.qsl.net/arcars and http://www.arcars.us/ . If you have any content you feel appropriate to be posted on the sites, contact Mark and/or Andrew (KC8SPD).

OLD BUSINESS: None discussed.

NEW BUSINESS: Paul (KG8OU) has noticed that some of the equipment that we use on events is in need of attention. It was recommended that a separate meeting be held to take inventory of all the equipment and condition.

DX SPOTS/ SPECIAL EVENTS: Mike (N8MIC) worked Croatia and Ireland on 20 meters. A discussion followed about current band conditions. Tom (W8TRC) mentioned that he learned that the current solar sunspot cycle is showing signs of improvement, and good conditions may appear two years ahead of original forecasts.

Events: Mike announced tentative plans to hold a special event to commemorate Thomas Edison’s birthday in February. More information will be available at the next meeting.

Swap info: The next swap is scheduled March 19th at Marshall MI.

MOTION TO ADJOURN: by Gene, seconded by Victor.
