August 1999 ARCARS Meeting

The meeting came to order at 7:18 p.m. with nine members and present.

Treasures Report: Suzanne was absent at the meeting. As of the last report our balance stood at $1,248.05.

Motion: Dan (kb8wwe) motioned to accept the minutes and Stephen seconded it.

Frank (K8MFK) left Michigan maps for use of the club members.

A discussion was held about preparing the tower for mounting antennas on it.

It was discussed what antennas will be mounted on the tower and what brackets

will be needed to support the mast that will go inside of the tower.

Nets: There were 6 check-ins for the Tuesday net.

Motion: to adjourn by Tom (WB8MCS), seconded by Stephen, and approved.

Notes: As of this writing an exact metal template has been made to be used to

line up the studs that the tower will be mounted on. When the studs are lined up

and cleaned and the brackets made, it will be time to make arrangements to lift

the tower into place.

The Friends of Marconi group meets every Friday at 11:30 am at My Place
Restaurant in downtown Port Huron. Everyone is welcome to attend. See the
web page http://www.tir.com/~kb8wwe.

The ARRL Great Lakes Division Election
By
George Race - WB8BGY - Division Vice Director

Starting in late September, Great Lakes Division League
Members will have a unique opportunity. You will again
be called on to elect your Division Leadership for the
next three-year period. Both Director and Vice
Director positions are up for reelection. Your ballot
should arrive at your home by October 10. It must be
marked and mailed back, so that it is received no later
than Noon, November 19, 1999 at League HQ.

Looking back at the past two elections, 48% of the
Membership voted in 1998. In the 1996, the returns
were only 36%. Your help is needed to turn out an even
greater number of voters for this election. Please
talk up the election on your nets, and bring it up at
your Club Meetings. Lets try to get as many ballots
returned as possible.

Your vote can make a difference. Why not mark your
ballot and get it in the mail today. Don't let others
make your decision for you. Returning your Ballot, for
the Great Lakes Division election, will be appreciated
by all of the Candidates taking part in this important
event.
